Frequently asked questions
Here are all our answers to the most frequently asked questions about your visit.
Yes ! Un MAS en Provence welcomes you year-round to explore the world of aromatic plants and their precious essential oils. Come learn about the distillation process and the full scope of farm work in the fields. Our shop is also open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday.
We offer a variety of activities that let you experience our daily life: on our guided tour, become a true expert in aromatic plants and learn about the challenges of agriculture and steam distillation. Go behind the scenes to see how we produce essential oils and our natural products, such as soaps, mists, and macerates.
During our creative and sensory workshops, you’ll play an active role in life at the MAS: as a cosmetics creator, natural perfume composer, expert in traditional harvesting, and apprentice distiller… all workshops designed to provide you with a memorable experience alongside us.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for the fields, especially in the fall and winter. In the spring and summer, we also recommend wearing a cap or hat.
The answer is yes! We care about your comfort. You will find on site a shop and workshop rooms air-conditioned and heated. Outside, you will find seating and shaded areas thanks to the planting of fast-growing trees as well as a large shaded terrace and picnic tables sheltered. We develop several tour options to address every difficulty and provide you with a maximum experience at each visit. Our guides adapt to weather conditions and are resourceful to facilitate your comfort. For example:
It’s beautiful weather in spring, in autumn or summer in the morning:
Follow Sylvain! If you’re up for it, our guide will be happy to show you the plants right out in the fields. While the adults learn the secrets of using essential oils, the kids are invited to hunt for insects in the field. You’ll take the full tour, and while Sylvain explains the distillation process, both kids and adults can sit in the shade.
In summer in the middle of the afternoon or in winter under the rain :
Join Marion for a customized tour! After an introduction on our terrace, our guide will invite you to take a seat in an air-conditioned or heated room for a guided presentation. She’ll provide you with as much information as possible in the shelter of the building before taking you on a short tour outside. Sun umbrellas and rain umbrellas are available to protect you from the elements.
Our tours cover several themes: we’ll introduce you to the Camargue Regional Nature Park before explaining the challenges facing this magnificent region. We’ll then introduce you to our aromatic plants and reveal the secret behind how essential oils are made from them. Next, learn about the farming practices in the fields related to these plants, and then witness the steam distillation process firsthand. We’ll also show you the famous Provençal farmhouse that gives us our name, and take you behind the scenes to see our year-round production process, from planting to the creation of our products.
These themes allow our guides to tailor their guided tours based on the season, what’s in bloom, and weather conditions. The length of the tours may therefore vary. The longest tour is 500 meters. Along the entire route, you’ll find shaded areas and places to sit.
Kids are welcome! During the tour, we’ll invite them to make their own lavender sachet to take home. Our guides can offer them various activities throughout the tour: an insect hunt using our little boxes, discovering a mystery plant, or serving as chief assistant… all roles designed to help them learn while having fun.
We have shaded picnic tables where you can enjoy your own lunch. During the summer, we also have our brand-new Lavender Snack, our food truck where you can order a 100% homemade lunch.
Yes! At un MAS en PROVENCE, your pet is welcome. Dogs and cats on a leash are allowed in the shop and on guided tours! You’ll find a dog and cat water bowl outside.
We offer a variety of activities, such as creative workshops, that you can combine with your visit to make the most of your day here. Learn how to blend your own natural perfume, make lavender cream, or get an introduction to the artisanal craft of distillation!
