Rosemary hydrolate, in detail

Rosemary, at the heart of the Mediterranean landscapes of Southern France

Naturally present in scrublands and dry, sunny areas, it grows in poor soils, often swept by the wind and exposed to high temperatures.

Its name comes from the Latin ros marinus, meaning “dew of the sea,” in reference to its proximity to the Mediterranean coast.

Formerly present in all medieval gardens, rosemary is an ingredient that was used in the creation of the famous Queen of Hungary Water, which was attributed with longevity powers.

Known since antiquity, it already held an important place in Greek and Roman traditions, where it was associated with daily gestures and aromatic uses. Widely used in cooking, it flavors stews, meats, and vegetables, bringing intense, slightly resinous, and characteristic notes.
