Bay Laurel essential oil, in detail
The Bay Laurel: a plant between tradition and daily use
In ancient times, it held an important place in Greek and Roman civilizations, where it was used to make symbolic crowns, particularly associated with victors and figures of honor. Its name is linked to this ancient tradition, and it has remained over time a symbol of recognition and prestige.
In the Middle Ages, it was cultivated in gardens to accompany daily life, particularly to flavor preparations. Very present in Mediterranean kitchens, it has established itself as an essential herb in traditional recipes, bringing depth and character.
It is important to note that not all "laurels" are edible: only the bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) is used in cooking. Other varieties, such as the oleander, are intended for ornamental use only.
