The fine lavender flower herbal tea, in detail

Fine lavender is one of the most emblematic plants of Provence.

Known for its delicate and recognizable scent, it is also used in infusion to offer a floral, sweet, and naturally soothing drink.

Since antiquity, lavender has been part of daily life. The Romans already used it to scent baths, laundry, and living spaces. Its name actually comes from Latin “lavare”, which means “to wash”. This history explains the very ancient link between lavender, freshness, care, and well-being.

A few flowers are enough to scent an infusion, either alone or combined with other plants like verbena, lemon balm, chamomile, or rosemary.

The flowers of fine lavender can also be invited into the kitchen. Their scent being naturally strong, it is better to use them lightly to maintain a subtle and pleasant note.

Tea:

Tea contains caffeine and comes from the infusion of tea leaves.

Herbal tea:

Herbal tea, on the other hand, is made up of natural plant extracts such as flowers, roots, seeds, and leaves.

Infusion:
Infusion is a technique for preparing herbal teas. Hot water is poured over a plant, flowers, leaves, fruits, or spices, and then allowed to steep for a few minutes.

Place 1 small pinch of fine lavender flowers in a cup, then pour in hot but not boiling water, ideally around 85 to 90 °C. Let steep for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on the desired intensity, then strain before tasting.

Lavender has a naturally strong scent, so it's best to start with a small amount, adjusting later according to your taste. It can be enjoyed alone for a floral and delicate infusion, or combined with other plants like verbena, lemon balm, chamomile, or thyme.

Gourmet tip : add a spoonful of spring honey or lavender honey to sweeten the infusion and enhance its floral notes.
